Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is an autonomous body under the Ministry of H.R.D, Government of India which was started way back in 1965 for the benefit of the children of transferable employees of the Government of India 981 schools are located allover India under 18 different regions with it's headquarters in New Delhi.

The prestigious institution, Kendriya Vidyalaya Ponda under the auspices of KVS New Delhi started in October 1988 in Camp No.1 of the Military campus Ponda with classes from I to VIII. In may 1989, the school was shifted to camp no. 3 in Ponda, Goa. The Vidyalaya is housed in barracks and is situated amidst a clean and green environment facilitating a congenial learning atmosphere to the students. The Vidyalaya has been growing over the years from a meagre strength of 150 students to a relatively good number of around 468 at present. The Vidyalaya is one section with +2 science stream. It is striving for academic excellence and recognition in all spheres. 100% result in CBSE (Class X) for the past 5 years is a proof of its success in academics. The first batch of class XI (Science stream) started from July 2003 with a strength of 18 students. The first batch of XII appeared for AISSCE in March 2005. Apart from catering to the educational needs of the children, the Vidyalaya also aims at all round development of child through various activities such as games, sports, vocational skills, scouts and guide movement, co-curricular programme, children are being trained by special coach in sports, fine arts, craft, music/dance, etc. About 9.47 acres of land was provided by 6TTR for the new school building which is situated in Curti, Ponda Goa. It occupies a suitable location as it is in the centre of city. It accommodates 12 classrooms for classes I to XII each with an area of 48sq.m. There are also ample rooms provided for Laboratory, Music, Arts, SUPW, Exams, Office, Principal's Cabin, Library, Staff Room, Computer Laboratory etc. There is also an extensive playground with provision for Volley-ball court, Basket-ball court, Assembly ground etc. The Vidyalaya is progressing by leaps and bounce and the day is not far when it will gain reorganization as one of the best Vidyalaya in the region
